Keynote Address

Keynote address by Dr. Wm. Loyd Allen: Seeing Virginia Baptist Spirituality Again for the First Time

Dr. Wm. Loyd Allen will help us to re-examine the treasures of religious experience found in Virginia Baptist history and to explore what that means.

The spiritual experience of the early Virginia Baptists helps us to understand how Baptists have interpreted religious authority, conscience, religious liberty, church autonomy, and much more, extending to the present.

Professor Emeritus of Church History and Spiritual Formation at the McAfee School of Theology, Mercer University, Dr. Allen is an insightful historian and sought-after authority in the history and practice of Christian spiritual formation. He now calls Virginia home and is a member of First Baptist Church, Waynesboro.
